CRT Photography

Brightness, flicker, even if you do not have a CRT monitor, these concepts are still useful to learn

Oh you simply click a pic, post on insta and call it a day? Oh you never cared to check what really happens when you click a pic? Do you know that the white filled circle you press is actually called as “shutter” button? Wait, I haven’t even gone into the details of exposure, noise, banding, aperture, chroma, luminance, color gamut, white points, subsampling and developing DNGs (digital negatives)…

well, I don’t mind reading it, but where am I even going to use it?

You think you probably won’t. And that’s alright. However, you have to realize fiddling with the final pic your phone spit out can only take you so far, imagine what if you a tad bit more control over other factors - variables that exists before even the pic came into existence. You’d have a much more beautiful looking picture don’t you agree? Captured the moment perfectly…

You don’t have to be a photographer for that matter, but my point is, not everything have to be made and spit out fast. The unbacked-up 10,000 pictures in your gallery is a proof. And you don’t have to… The process you apply can brings out life from a picture, it tells you the story about the scene and climate that day… You capture memories through photos, and the photos should retell the story back to you - even when you look at it after years.

Lets take a case study then, just to go through the fundamentals clearly: Imagine you have have to capture a scene from CRT (catgirl ray tube) television, with that in mind, now head to https://nyanpasu64.gitlab.io/blog/crt-photography/ fast quick!
